Celebrating the Great Outdoors with the Cincinnati Nature Center
Summer is winding down and the kids are going back to school, but that doesn’t mean the outdoor fun has to end. With autumn approaching you will want to participate in all of your fall favorites and who doesn’t love this season? Everyone loves the pumpkin patch, hay rides, haunted trails and dressing up for Halloween, but when creating your must do list, don’t forget to add a visit to the Cincinnati Nature Center. The Nature Center has created a great line up for the season that you won’t want to miss!
To kick off the month of September, join them Preparing for Night. At this event you will discover the secret sights and sounds of the natural world on Sept. 9 and 10 from 6-10 pm. This totally unique family event showcases fun and informative interactive stations along the trails of the Nature Center. Guests and Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights to use as they take a hike and navigate the trails. You will have the opportunity to view live owls and gaze at the brilliant nighttime skies through high-powered telescopes. To top off the evening there will be live music, free ice cream and food trucks. How does that sound for an evening out?
Finding the perfect hiking stick is always a hard task, but what better way to find one than to make your own? On Sept. 17, 2-4 pm join the Cincinnati Nature Center as they host the Make and Take: Crafting your own Hiking Stick. When participating in this event you will get to choose your own pre-harvested honeysuckle branch and craft it into a customized hiking stick. Use simple hand tools to cut, smooth and design the stick into the perfect size for you. Make the hiking stick your own by adding embellishments like brass tacks and leather lanyards. To register for this event visit their website at cincynature.org.
Finally, the Great Outdoor Weekend is expected to be a big hit at the Cincinnati Nature Center. On Sept. 24-25 the Nature Center invites you to celebrate as you bring your friends and family for a FREE weekend. During this weekend you will get to experience award winning trails, bird walks, local archaeology, mud sculptures, guided tours and much much more. You won’t want to miss this FREE family fun weekend.
