Spotlight on Clermont County Craft Breweries
If you live in Ohio or have been considering a trip to “The Heart of It All,” be sure to check out the craft brewers in Clermont County. While craft breweries are popping up left and right, Clermont County has some of the best in the country. You can’t leave town without tasting the craft brews at Mt. Carmel Brewing Company and the Old Firehouse Brewery.
From Farmhouse to Brewhouse
The Mt. Carmel Brewing Company is the oldest craft microbrewery in all of Cincinnati. It started out as a tiny brewery in the storm cellar of an old farmhouse built way back in 1924. It took only 10 years for the brewery to expand into one of the country’s best craft breweries. Stop by the Mt. Carmel Brewing Company to partake in a Public House brewery tour. You’ll see how these tasty craft brews are made, and even be able to try some samples on-site. Mt. Carmel has eight taps that each pour one of the brewery’s delicious year-round beers. You can choose from the snapshot series or the seasonal line. The tap room hours are from noon until 11 p.m. on Saturdays, from 4 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 4 to 11 p.m. on Fridays. There are also happy hour specials from 4 to 7 p.m. every day they’re open.
Every now and then, Mt. Carmel features a special brewery event or tap-in, so be sure to check out their Twitter page before finalizing your plans. You might even get to meet the brewery’s founders, Mike and Kathleen Dewey. They’ll be happy to tell you all about how they built this remarkable brewery from a mere two-vessel system and a stainless steel kettle in a small farmhouse’s storm cellar. Today, the Mt. Carmel Brewing Company is a 40-barrel brewhouse that produces some of the best craft beer in the world.
The Must-Visit New Kid on the Block
