Background: Founded in 1994 and sponsored by Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church, the Brass Fellowship brings together student, amateur, and professional brass musicians from Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Members of the brass ensemble come from many vocations, including music, education, systems, and the law, and all share a passion for music. The Brass Fellowship strives to unearth the rich literature of over 400 years of brass choir music and regularly present it to the public at the highest level of musicianship possible.

Professor Gary L. Johnston, conductor of the Brass Fellowship, retired from Northern Kentucky University in 2013 after 46 years teaching music. He is a trombonist and past president of the board of the Cincinnati Community Orchestra. He has performed as trombonist with the Clermont Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra, Sounds of Sousa Band, Brighton Brass Band, and the Nashville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras, as well as numerous jazz groups. As trombonist with the Commonwealth Brass Quintet, he recorded a series for National Public Radio. His advanced work includes conducting study with the late CSO conductor Thomas Shippers.

The Evergreen Center for Nature, Arts, and Music, founded by Angelo Santoro, has sponsored the 2019 series of concerts at the Batavia Armory Town Hall and is planning a series of performances for the year to come. The Evergreen Center is located at the former home of Santoro Engineering Company at 1501 Old State Route 74, Batavia, Ohio 45103.
