Rowing returns to Harsha Lake

Clermont County is preparing for an influx of tourists as the 2017 USRowing Club National Championships return to Harsha Lake in East Fork State Park July 12 through 16.

Last year’s event brought in more than 1,850 rowers in 1,570 boats from 103 clubs in 30 states with an estimated economic impact of more than $3 million, according to data from the Clermont County Visitors Bureau.

This year’s event, expected to be as large as last year or bigger, features national championship racing in 79 events in the U17, U19, intermediate, and elite/senior categories.

Teams at the Club National Championships compete for the Colgan Cup Overall Team Points Trophy standings, the Sulgar-Barnes Men’s Points Trophy standings and the Marion D. Ventura Women’s Points Trophy.

More than 500 area volunteers give of their time to help make the event a success. The races are open to the public.
