Labor Day Weekend is upon us and once again, summer goes out with a bang! With temperatures in the nineties this week, the pools, lakes and rivers still beckon our visitors to keep cool. Cincinnati’s Riverfest, which started in the 1970’s, is the annual end of summer celebration with food, drinks, live music and of course, the WEBN Fireworks sponsored by Western & Southern. It is our region’s farewell to summer where over a half million people swarm the banks of the Ohio River to watch one of the Midwest’s best fireworks display on Sunday, September 1st.
Summer had it ups and downs…average daily rates (ADR) were up and occupancy was slightly down. Some of the numbers were impacted by major room renovations at Fairfield Inn & Suites Cincinnati Eastgate. Our CVB staff is excited to see the updated rooms and I am certain they will be beautiful. We will again see occupancy fluctuate into the fall months and winter, as Holiday Inn & Suites Cincinnati Eastgate prepares to go through room renovations as the hotel will become home to two hotel brands, housing both a Holiday Inn and a Candlewood Suites. And…drumroll…the Home2 by Hilton Hotel will, after several years, open soon to the public in the Eastgate area. This property will be a nice, new addition to our hotel partners in Clermont County. We look forward to promoting their new hotel property!
As we turn the page to fall, it becomes football and fall festival season. Please make sure you are aware of these dates, so you may promote the events, share with our hotel guests, make sure you have adequate staffing…and get out there and enjoy them too!
