Lake Harsha to Host 2017 USRowing Club National Championships
Lake Harsha in Bethel, Ohio will be the site for the 2017 USRowing Club National Championships, the organization announced Monday.
The championships, which showcase the premiere under 17, under 19, intermediate, senior and elite rowing athletes in the United States will be held between July 12-16, 2017. The 2016 event saw over 1,800 athletes from approximately 101 clubs from the United States, as well as Canada and India.
“The success of the 2016 Club National regatta was tremendous,” said USRowing Events Manager AJ Dominique. “The effort put forth by the Clermont County Visitors Bureau, the local volunteers, and all involved in running this event are what made the regatta enjoyable for athletes and spectators alike. Clermont County has raised the bar for how USRowing runs events, and we look forward to returning to Lake Harsha next year.”
The park is no stranger to national championship regattas. Lake Harsha was the home of the USRowing Youth National Championships from 1995-2010 and the National Collegiate Rowing Championships from 1983 -1996.
In addition to the 2016 Club Nationals, Harsha played host to the University of Cincinnati Invitational and the Mid-America Collegiate Rowing Association Championships this year, and it will hold the 2016 Head of the Hidden Dragon in October.
“The Clermont County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is excited to host the 2017 USRowing Club Nationals for the third year in a row,” said President of the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau Mark Calitri. “This year’s event produced a record-breaking economic impact to the Cincinnati East region and highlights the increasing value that USRowing and the sport of rowing brings to this community. We are anticipating future capital improvements to the venue in order to provide the highest level of service to our rowers, coaches and fans.”
